Description:
During the dry season, remote villages in the Bahr el Ghazal region in South Sudan often have no access to clean water, requiring people to abandon their homes for the duration of the season. In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #6, Water for South Sudan (WFSS) has built a total of 349 wells to date. WFSS currently compiles well data using a large spreadsheet in Excel. The data on the spreadsheet was not standardized, consistent, or protected.
The project team compared different software applications for creating this database and made a recommendation to WFSS. The project deliverables included an up-to-date database, written and in-person instructions for making changes to the database, and a number of reporting features.
