Description:
The Black Soldier Fly Larvae Composting System (bug hut) was constructed fall of 2016 with the goal of providing a source for biodiesel. Students and faculty at RIT have worked in the fly lab to determine what conditions the flies require, which include controls for temperature, humidity, and CO2. To maintain the proper temperature, a power source is required, but not readily available. The project team determined where the panels should be placed, which surfaces they can be mounted on, and constructed and installed any equipment necessary.
