Description:

For the last few semesters, we have been working on removing macroscopic pollution from RIT’s campus forests. In previous years, we were able to pull trash from the woods off of Jefferson Rd. and had eyes set on removing more from a location in Bailey Woods. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the plans for Bailey Woods had to be cut short. This semester (Fall 2021) our efforts were back up and running and we have set sight on the woods off Ward Rd. Here, a site of a 1971 Chevrolet Vega has been sitting for almost 50 years. Half of it was removed by past members years ago and the goal this year was to get the other half. We set an initial goal of 100 lbs of scrap and ended up hitting that 10-15x over and finishing the semester with 1000-1500 lbs removed from our campus’ forests! We will continue this project in the coming semesters until all major dumpsites on campus have been cleared!
